UPDATE #1 – Tom broke his penis at Hedonism Resort in Jamaica!

Yes, Tom broke his penis at the world famous Clothing Optional, Nudist and Lifestyle resort Hedonism II in Negril Jamaica.   After years of suffering with ED the un imaginal happened and today we discuss an update that we finally got approved and the surgery completed for a removal and replacement of the Boston Scientific AMS 700 Penile Implant!

Secondly, is Doctor Calvert’s care coordinator, Kim, she had she battled the insurance companies for us, like, every week. Trooper. She was constantly on the phone, constantly sending texts and without her care and dedication to this, it would have never went through.

And the third is Boston Scientific, who actually manufactures the implant. I was provided, the AMS 700. I don’t know what this one is. It may not be the AMS 700. We’ll explain that in the video.

So with, now Boston Scientific, called Bonnie when I was, I just had my Kokila done. If you guys have been following us, you know, I had hand surgery. I had a cochlear surgery. I have another surgery scheduled 11 days from now. We are changing his name to Steve Austin. But Bionic Man and Boston Scientific, that was, Heather.

Heather was on the insurance side helping me on the insurance side. Right? We didn’t know if she could help us fully or not, because, we’re self-insured, and a lot of times they go in, and if you’re employer insured, they can get your employer to add sexual function. And we’re going to explain that here in a minute. And then Carl, who is the local route, he was actually in my surgery.

But more importantly, we actually had a lot of people listening. Almost 11,000 video views currently today, and it’s only been up for two months. And that is just video views we haven’t gone back and seen on our podcast podcast, I kind of looked at and that was in the hundreds of thousands of listeners.

Well, and you know, the great thing about about Doctor Calvert versus your previous urologist, your previous urologist was was getting up there in age. I think he was pretty close to retirement if not over retirement.

With Doctor Calvert, he is such a forerunner in this particular area that he just wants everybody to be he says his goal is to, have every male realize an erection.

We didn’t know what was wrong. All we know is the plunger for my pump. I could pump it so many times, and then it would go flat and it wouldn’t expand to pump more. I knew my reservoir was empty. I knew right from the get go because it’s just common sense mechanics. Correct. And, but we had to go through the motions.

We go down to Doctor Calvert and he immediately checks and shirts as I tight. It goes flat. And so he immediately schedules me a casket. go to this Cat scan and then we talk about. Yeah, we did. Okay. So we did the Cat scan. All the results came back and I had no fluid in my reservoir, thankfully.

Now this is just what I did. And the other video we talked about how when I pumped it up for the Cat scan, I didn’t release it because I was afraid. I was afraid if I hit that manifold to release the fluid, I wouldn’t be able to get anything in there. And I was not. I was probably more quarter erect, but at least I was a semi so we could still fool around that we could, that we could.

It was hard. It was hard. It was, you know, that was frustrating. It was frustrating. So in the past that originally happened what, January 20th or January 15th, something like that originally happened. But like he says, since he had just enough in there and he has enough of his own, I don’t even find him material. When I, when I get aroused, the blood still goes into the side.

So the original doctor did not, I say, water out all the spongy material for the tubes. So when we would get very excited and Tom would be taking care of me, when he would get ultra, ultra ready, he would be like, just lay there, just lay there. I’m going to take care of this. And we would I would literally just lay there because because I don’t rock the hips don’t do nothing.

Yes. I mean, it’s depressing. It is depressing. It is depressing. Handjobs. BJs. Those were able to happen. I figured out a trick. She figured out the trick, and we worked around it. But I still felt guilty for Bunny. And because, Yeah, she’s taking care of me, then. Well, I didn’t have. It’s kind of weird, I think, because of the depression of knowing I could not do nothing.

I got into the depression of it’s better to avoid it than, And some people would say, well, I would do this, I would do that. And it’s it’s kind of in a mindset. It really is. You know, one of the things that we found out, too, is not every state covers this particular surgery for various reasons. Now moving to Tennessee, we did not realize we didn’t look it up.

We did not look it up. But they do not cover the surgery either on physicality or on psychological. Now, Alabama says that psychological is just as a part or a sexual function. Yes. And which I completely, 100% agree on because watching Tom go from happy go lucky to down in the dumps within a matter of, well, the first denial came through and he just dropped right down.

So let’s tell everyone what’s going on. I originally got my first denial and almost right away and we got a call from their care coordinator, and, she’s like, you got denied. And we we discussed appeals and everything. So she went, Doctor Covert was in surgery, and then when he came out of surgery, thankfully, the he works in the hospital.

So when that far, she was able to meet up with them and immediately right out of surgery, he wrote multiple pages, I’m guessing two or more pages of why it was medically necessary for me to have my old unit removed and a new unit installed, and they sent that in. So we are excitement went back up because how could they deny us when a doctor is spending so much time documenting the whole criteria?

I mean, we even tried saying maybe when the saline bag fluid emptied out in my pelvic area because I had extreme back pains for about two weeks, he said that wouldn’t have caused that. So I was like, oh no, it’s helping you that. Yeah. And so we wait. And because it’s an appeal instead of 14 days, now they have 30 days.

So we’re talking 45 days. So we’re like, okay, well I had it on the calendar. We are marking the days. And we our care coordinator, Kim, was calling them every week. And finally we get the devastation call. it was on a Tuesday. I don’t remember. Yeah, I think we were talking Tuesday. Oh, no, it was on a Monday.

So we got a call and she goes, I have bad news. And she goes, I was so invested in you that I did not expect that. She goes, you were denied. And there’s no more appeals. And I’m like, and you can almost hear her almost crying. I mean, well Tom was crying like literally crying and it’s very, very depressing.

I mean not that’s a hard, hard hit. It is a hard hit and the surgery is $20,000. So we’re already talking about refining our house. selling off our Harley and a car are doing a go fund me when we talk about Go Fund Me in the previous video, I was just more merely joking about it because me and Bonnie always give.

We never asked for anything. We’ve never asked anyone of anything. But we also provide something of value for a lot of people listening. Not everyone, but a lot of people thank us from years ago today. Even today, when we go to hedonism, it’s not uncommon for ten different couples to come up and say, oh my God, your videos are why we’re here, or, thanking us.

The fact is, people people think that an implant is like breast implants.

We’re just going to make them bigger. Enhancement and enhancement. No, it’s not to make it bigger. It’s not to enhance it. It’s to make it work. Right. So we she goes, so we got we go, can we get the number to Boston Scientific? They’re the ones who manufacture the implant. The implant I had was an Ames 700.

It basically has two tubes up the side shafts, on one on each side of the urethra. And then it has a pump in the scrotum, and then it has a reservoir of saline in your pelvic area. And when you pump up, when you pump it, it draws, fluid from the reservoir into the two tubes. And there’s a one way check valve.

And then when you want to release it, there’s a button on the manifold and on the pump, you push that and the reservoir actually has a vacuum because you’re drawing it out, not just pushing it out. And it pulls the fluid back into the reservoir. It’s a very simple, process. Yeah. And so we asked, can we, can we get the phone number to Boston Scientific because on our previous video, we told the doctor about the video and he was like shocked.

He was like, oh my God, you have 9600 views in two months. And I’m like, yeah. And I said, my thought is, is let’s throw that at Boston Scientific. Because at the end of that video, we, we said we’re going to do an update, which we are here doing an update right now. And I said, I don’t want to make threats.

I just want to say we were we are pro implant because I’ve had Ed since my 20s, we would love to do a glowing video to say, hey, I’ve been denied by insurance. But Boston Scientific stepped up and paid for the new surgery because it was only three years in my system when I was told 10 to 15 years, and just give the doctor the device and we’ll pay for the surgery.

Right. I was looking for any, any option that we could. And if the doctor was like that, that may very well work, because implant manufacturers need people like me and Barney. Because he said, typically nobody talks about their junk to nobody, not even their wife. He’s typically the first person that they open up to. And he said that an implant manufacturer would love to have.

He watched our video and absolutely loved it, laughed all the way through it. said we were very articulate and we explained it very well. He did give me more of an explanation on how the tubes are put in. He goes, I was reversed, but same thing, I was correct, I just gave a reverse, way of doing so.

We, called Boston Scientific, and then Heather calls Bonnie. and that’s when we found out about, different insurances, employer insurances from right now, one of the things you definitely have to check to if, if you are in the same position that we are. Because now once we did that first video, people started coming out of the woodwork and letting us know that, hey, they were denied first, right?

Or they are waiting on their approvals or somebody, people are waiting on approvals for like years in it. Not every state insurance approves it, right? We found out in Tennessee, psychological or physical are not covered under sexual functions. No. Yeah. So we found out real fast that our insurance excludes it doesn’t have an option. It excludes sexual function.

Somebody immediately calls our assurance Rock. And she started looking at all the different insurance companies and plans. None of hers include sexual function. She goes, well, we might be able to find it. We’re going to pay a big premium. Oh, that. And now you’re back under it. damn it. I don’t know, so it’s going to fall under.

It’s part of our body. Everything should be covered. And it’s not a preexisting condition in this instance. But if we were to get another insurance that covered, we would then have a preexisting. So we were just oh my God, oh my God. I’m not going to wait two years. No. because we can’t even get new insurance till November or something. So just check and make sure if it doesn’t start pre-planning now before you go in for anything so you can make sure you have sexual function on your insurance. So when you do go into a urologist you have it on your insurance.

Right. And she did call me. And she said, you know, at this point, now we’ve got to have that denial letter. We needed the denial. She goes, once you get that denial letter, then we will we will take it and go with it and see what we can get covered for you. If anything, if anything. So we were expecting nothing.

So. And of course, then it’s time to go away to Jamaica again. So we’re as we’re in Jamaica, you know, we’re I know mails coming in and and even when they sign off the denial letter would be in a four day. they’re going to mail out four days and we were going to be gone seven. So we were like okay, we’ll have it when we get home.

So we come home and in the at least about 2 or 3 days, we finally got to our mail. Yeah, because we expected it. And I’ll let her and we figure there’s no rush on it now. and I thought a couple days after we got home, I’m like, maybe we should open it. Then, not a letter, and start sending it over to Boston Scientific to see if they can do anything.

I know Boston Scientific is huge. They do stands. They do all kinds of medical devices. I’m just a little guy. Yes, a little guy. But I do have a big voice on here. Of course you do. So I mean, our video has been viewed 3.5 million video views. We never want anyone out themselves inadvertently. So as I, I get it and I’m opening it up. I’m fully expecting denied and opening up at like 455, four 3430. And I open it up and I’m like, is this the one for the other? Kokila because I’m seeing approved and we were clearly told we are denied. Now, mind you, we never got denial number one, nor did we get denial number two.

And they dragged their feet that the first denial we got two weeks right after. Right? The second denial we didn’t. They submitted all the appeal 30 days. They’re saying we never got anything. So Kim the care coordinator, had to resubmit it. And then it was another 30 days before they had to do anything. So it is they were just dragging their feet.

So I’m reading it and it says remove and replace, of a penile implant, a penile platinum like. But it says approved approved one denial zero. And I’m like, they messed up. They sent us the wrong letter. Maybe we can use this with the well, and then maybe we can say, oh, you made my clients all excited. And then you take it away from them.

I was I was already in my mind thinking of options. Yes, yes. And then the dates didn’t match up. Yeah. They said that the, the surgery was from February 15th to April 15th. Meanwhile, the letter of the date is April 16th. And here we’re reading it on a, Oh, my God, April 29th. Yes. So we’re just like, all right, so the sketcher surgery date is already closed.

Yeah. So I’m like, oh my God, I got approved. And then they’re going to deny me again. So we immediately call Doctor Calvert’s office. And of course, 530 430 M it usually goes to voicemail. We usually get a call back pretty quick, but not within 30 minutes. so we call the insurance and we called everyone. No one answered.

The next morning, we got two calls. We got a call from Kim at Colbert’s office, and she was so ecstatic. And she had me take pictures of it, send it over. And when I sent it over, I said, if this is true, can we have surgery May 7th, eighth or ninth? Because that would perfectly fit our schedule because we’re going to be traveling June all the way through June, and I don’t want to wait till July and have them tonight in the process.

Right? No, we didn’t want to wait. We don’t want to wait and give them a reason to deny it again. Right. So she’s she calls us immediately when she reads the email and she goes, I love your optimism. She goes, I don’t want to be a Debbie Downer. I, I just want to put it forward. Your request. She goes, you realize that that surgery is one week out from today.

And I’m like, yeah, I said, doctor Calvert said he’s ready to go any time she goes, all right. That was kind of being facetious, saying, yeah, he’s ready to go, but we still got to go through insurance. We got to get an operating room lined up. We got to get the staff all the it. There’s so much more than just the doctors saying, let’s go.

So, so we we like that’s okay. It’s okay. We are just being hopeful. So all of a sudden, she initially she calls back and says it is approved. She goes, they can’t even find the original denials. So I’m reading my letter and it said that my approval was an override to the previous denial by a doctor who has never reviewed my case before.

And I thought, this is kind of weird that a doctor randomly looks at my case and approves it and overrides the denial. And I could think, because I’m hoping Boston Scientific with their contacts and it’s like they say, it’s not what you know, it’s who you know. I am. I they haven’t said nothing. I’m just hoping that maybe they made a few calls and someone said, let me take a look and says, oh yeah, yeah, he could definitely use this.

so and we’re thankful, however it happened that that doctor reviewed re reviewed my case and overturned and said it was medically necessary for me. And you know what? It could have been where I added, do you know who I am? I’m Betsy. That’s exactly right. Don’t mess with me. But, realistically, what I heard in Jamaica last time is your town.

Just randomly picked your case out of the millions and said he’s a new penis. So? So then the next call I like, do he? He needs a new penis. So the next call comes in about a half hour later. and it’s Kim, and she goes, so I have an honest question. I said, what’s wrong?
